हाम्रो नेपाली समाजमा विरामीलाई साधारणतया रोगको बारेमा जानकारी दिने प्रचलन छैन। विरामी प्राय: गरेर कोहि बुझ्ने आफन्तसँग आएका हुन्छन् र सबै जाँचपछि उसैलाई नै रोग र उपचारको जानकारी दिने गरिन्छ। अझ रोग जटिल किसिमको छ, उपचार गर्न नसकिने अवस्थाको छ भने त विरामीलाई बाहिर राखेर मात्र विरामीको अवस्थाका बारेमा कुराकानी शुरु गर्ने गरिन्छ।

I like your blog, but that reminds me of something relevant.

I have found many qualified doctors in Nepal, some even better than the ones we find here. However, in many other instances we realize massive carelessness shown by these doctors in diagnosis of a patient. Just the other day we heard of a friend die of a obvious cancer while the doctors diagnosed him of something else. When a patient is taken to ER for life threatening condition, I have found doctors joking amongst each other and wasting valuable time.

I certainly am not a proponent for the liability lawsuits in USA, but I do believe doctors should be held somewhat liable back home for them to get serious about their profession. Some disciplinary action, ranking/rating system might help.
