I know couple of people who are collecting money on individual basis and are trying to transfer money to Nepal. Some of them do not want to go through red cross etc because they have specific needs in the community (e.g: take care of their elderly parents). These folks then try to find someone they know who is going to Nepal soon. The per person cash limit at TIA is $ 5000. I think govt should think about raising it for now. No point in penalizing someone who is trying to bring money into the country.

They not going to count. Once i had taken 12000 that too half of them 50 bills, i even did not declare how much money i have. Got too much hassle (needed writing all the number on plain paper) while depositing in my account in NABIL bank.
