hello  friends two weeks ago i cut my finger and it was bleeding so i went to the hospital emergency dept.. it took me two hours to meet the doctor..when the doctor came he just put some glue and said you're fine. Now 2 weeks i got bill from the hospital about $500..i said that i would pay that..now after 2 days i got another bill for $400 saying i need to pay that too. i asked them and they told me that it was doctor's bill..now i am in dilemma that i should be paying differently for those two..and i don't have insurance..do you guys think i should pay.. please suggest me friends i am broke now....

Deadlyweeds,

Because you received the bill, you are obliged to pay. But, if you can't afford it, write a mail to the trustee or the president of the hospital. One of my friends was on the same boat. He didn't have an insurance back then and he wrote a mail to the hospital's trustees prompting them to dismiss the bill.

you go and talk to them saying you cannot pay as you don't have enough money to pay. Ask them if they have some charity or something like that. usually most hospitals do have such things. They may ask for verification like paycheck these thing.

my fren got 1900 bill for minor operation and was getting bills n bills asking him to pay and later he went through the similar process and now the hospital waived his bill fully after 8-9 months.
